About Manali
Manali has been a beloved hill station since the British Raj era, but its history goes much further back. The town is named after the sage Manu, who is believed to have stepped onto earth here after the great flood. The area is dotted with ancient temples and has strong cultural ties to Tibetan Buddhism. The Kullu Valley, where Manali is located, is known as the 'Valley of the Gods' for its numerous temples and festivals. The annual Kullu Dussehra is a week-long festival featuring processions of over 200 local deities and is a UNESCO-listed Intangible Cultural Heritage. Manali is a year-round destination: summers (March-June) are perfect for trekking, paragliding, and river rafting; winters (December-February) offer skiing, snowboarding, and snow-covered landscapes. The town is also the starting point for the legendary Manali-Leh Highway — one of the world's most spectacular road journeys.Gallery
