Sikkim Himalayan Gem
Sikkim Himalayan Gem is a 6-day discovery of one of India’s most spectacular and least-explored states. Start in Gangtok, the charming hilltop capital, where the buzzing MG Marg pedestrian street offers stunning views of Kanchenjunga — the world’s third-highest peak. Drive up to the sacred Tsomgo Lake at 3,753 meters and cross the historic Nathula Pass on the India-China border (one of the highest motorable passes in the world).
Sikkim is a land of Buddhist monasteries, prayer flags fluttering in mountain winds, pristine glacial lakes, and rare Himalayan flora. Explore the ancient Rumtek Monastery, discover the panoramic views from Tashi Viewpoint at sunrise, walk through Pelling’s enchanting forests to reach the Rabdentse Ruins, and experience the warmth of Sikkimese culture with its unique blend of Nepali, Bhutia, and Lepcha traditions. The state’s organic farming commitment (Sikkim is India’s first fully organic state) means the food is fresh, wholesome, and utterly delicious — from momos and thukpa to the famous Sikkimese tongba (millet beer).
Tour Location
Sikkim is a small Himalayan state in northeast India, bordered by Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan. Known as India's first organic state, it's home to Kanchenjunga and over 200 Buddhist monasteries.
About Sikkim
Sikkim was an independent kingdom until 1975 when it became India's 22nd state. This tiny Himalayan state (India's second smallest) is a biodiversity hotspot with over 5,000 species of flowering plants, 600 species of orchids, and 36 species of rhododendrons. The state is dominated by the mighty Kanchenjunga massif (8,586m) — the world's third-highest peak. Sikkim's Buddhist heritage is evident in its 200+ monasteries, including the magnificent Rumtek Monastery (seat of the Karmapa) and the ancient Pemayangtse Monastery. Sikkim became India's first fully organic state in 2016, banning all chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The state's eco-tourism initiatives, clean mountain air, and commitment to sustainable development make it a model for responsible travel in India.Gallery
